Rapture to Reckoning

Freedom Collection

Etching, metal and cermic sculptures in sand
2023

In the series Freedom Collection, moments of transaction are documented: one tattooing another, another creating a drawing. The simultaneous act was later symbolised through the creation of ceramic sculptures, taken from each drawing.

The etching serves as a direct image as to how the sculptures came to be.

In the age of mass surveillance, what would happen if this society disappeared? Would we be free from being watched? This work aims to capture a moment of a pigeon looking at the viewer, creating a feeling of more than one gaze.

Rapture to Reckoning was an exhibition organised by a group of students from Chelsea College of Arts, aiming to create immersive and explorative work for the exhibition. The space was filled with natural materials, ambient sounds, dim-lit lights and an on-going performance. Visitors were encouraged to interact with the pieces as well as the artists.

The exhibition was held in the Brixton Arches from the 24th to the 26th of April, 2023.
